Flaw & Crack detectors are products used to identify flaws and crack on metal surfaces. They are usually available as a three set piece which also involves a cleaner, a penetrant in addition to the flaw developer.
Flaw & Crack detection is a three step process which starts with application of a cleaner. The cleaning solvent is responsible for removing grease, oil and dirt found on the metal surface. A penetrant is then used to indicate the flaws and cracks on welds and metal surfaces. Red Dye Penetrants are generally used for easy identification. The developer is then used for identifying the cracks, faults and flaws on the metal surface by a white film formed on the surface.
The white film adheres to the surface and the faults on the surface are identified by the red colour due to penetration of the dye. Flaw & Crack detector can then be easily removed after the inspection.
